A very fair and balanced apology from Fox News on the hacking scandal: There’s more important things going on in the country right now…
Ignorance Is Strength of the Day: The News Corp.-owned Fox News Channel finally broke its self-imposed silence on the News of the World phone hacking scandal — to tell people to get over it.
On this morning’s Fox and Friends, host Steve Doocy interviewed media consultant Robert Dilenschneider about how much this affair is a non-issue, dismissing its magnitude with statements such as “this happened a long time ago, at a tabloid, in London,” and blaming “the public, the media” for “piling on” Rupert Murdoch.
Things get worse in a hurry.
Murdoch, meanwhile, met with the family of murdered schoolgirl and News of the World phone hacking victim Milly Dowler to offer “a full and sincere apology.” In a post-meeting statement, the family’s lawyer, Mark Lewis, said Murdoch was “was humbled, shaken and sincere,” and “held his head in his hands.”
